Why contractors choose Sub Zero Covers

The nation's most-trusted source for insulated backflow covers.

We make one thing — insulated backflow covers — and we make them in the United States. Here's what that means for the shops, contractors, and municipalities who buy from us.

Fill rate you can forecast

Stock SKUs ship same or next business day. Custom sizes ship in 3–5. Your purchasing team gets lead times in days — not "call us back next month."

Custom sizes in 3–5 business days

Any assembly, any footprint. Send the make, model, and dimensions — we build the unit in-house and have it on a truck before most competitors return the quote email.

Six-brand fitment, one catalog

Ames, Apollo / Conbraco, Deringer, Febco, Watts, Wilkins. One vendor covers the full shelf your customers specify — shrinking your SKU complexity and your open-PO list.

Predictable landed cost

Shipped domestic freight from a single U.S. facility. No import duties, no port delays, no surprise customs holds. What you quote is what your customer pays.

Real field support

Dedicated account reps and a support team that has actually installed these in the field. If something fails, call us — we made it, and we'll make it right.

Custom fabrication

Odd assembly? Non-standard install? We make the cover.

If your backflow preventer doesn't match a catalog size — tall risers, offset laterals, unusual enclosures, retrofits — we'll fabricate a custom insulated backflow cover in-house. Turnaround is usually 3–5 business days from approved measurements.

  • Send dimensions, photos, or the assembly make and model
  • We fabricate at our U.S. facility, not overseas
  • Ships direct to your job site or warehouse
  • No middlemen, no long lead times

Nationwide fulfillment

One U.S. supplier. Every ZIP code. Every climate.

Sub Zero Covers ships to all 50 states from a single U.S. factory — so your fill rate doesn't depend on which regional vendor has stock this week. Whether your customers are winterizing irrigation backflows in Phoenix or protecting municipal RPZs in Minneapolis, one call replaces a patchwork of distributors.

Made in the USA

Domestic manufacturing is a purchase criterion.

Federal, state, and municipal projects increasingly require domestically manufactured components under the Buy American Act and state DBE programs. Every Sub Zero Cover is cut, sewn, and shipped from a U.S. facility — so your customers can spec our backflow covers into jobs where imported covers get disqualified before they hit a bid.

FAQ

Backflow cover questions, answered.

Still stuck? Talk to us.

What is a backflow cover?
A backflow cover is an insulated cover that fits over a backflow preventer assembly — DC, DCDA, RP, RPDA, or PVB — to protect it from freezing temperatures. Sub Zero Covers are heavy-duty insulated covers designed for the exact geometry of each major backflow preventer, engineered to stay sealed in wind, ice, and sub-zero weather.
Which backflow preventer brands do your covers fit?
We build covers for every major backflow preventer sold in the United States — Watts (including 909, 957, LF909, 774 and 800 series), Febco (825Y, 825YA, 860, 870), Zurn Wilkins (975XL, 350, 375, 475), Ames (C400, C500, 2000SS), Apollo / Conbraco (4A, RP4A, 40-series), and Deringer. If you don't see your model, we'll fabricate a custom backflow cover.
Do you make custom sizes for non-standard backflow assemblies?
Yes. Our U.S. facility fabricates custom-sized insulated backflow covers for odd assemblies, retrofits, tall risers, offset laterals, and unusual enclosures. Turnaround is typically 3–5 business days from approved measurements.
Where are Sub Zero Covers made?
Every Sub Zero Cover is cut, sewn, and quality-inspected in the United States. No offshore fabric, no overseas assembly. Made in the USA, shipped nationwide.
Do you ship nationwide?
Yes — we ship to all 50 states in the U.S. In-stock backflow covers typically go out same or next business day. Canada shipping is available on request.
Do I need to be a distributor to order?
We only sell direct to distributors. However if you install, test, or resell backflow devices for a living, our distributor program unlocks tier pricing — apply once with your reseller license for access.
What's the minimum order to open a distributor account?
No sign-up fee and no pallet commitment. We onboard qualified distributors with a modest first-order minimum aimed at stocking the fastest-moving sizes. Volume-tiered pricing kicks in automatically as orders grow.
Do you offer net terms and drop-ship?
Net terms are available to approved distributor accounts after a short credit review. Blind drop-ship to your customer's jobsite or warehouse is supported on any order — packing slips carry your branding, not ours.
Do you offer private label or co-branded backflow covers?
Yes. Private-label labeling and co-branded packaging are available for qualifying distributors at volume, so the product reaches your customers under your brand, not ours.
What are your freight terms?
Standard orders ship FOB origin from our U.S. facility via ground freight or LTL depending on volume. Freight programs and prepaid-and-add options are available once a distributor account is established.
What's the lead time on stock SKUs?
In-stock sizes ship within 1–2 business days of order receipt. Our stock list is weighted toward the highest-volume DC, DCDA, RP, and PVB sizes across all six supported brands.
How fast is the distributor application approved?
Usually within one business day of submitting your reseller license. We'll email you the moment the account is live.
Are the covers rated for sub-zero temperatures?
Yes. The insulation spec, seam construction, and closures are all engineered for sub-zero winter conditions and have been field-tested through real seasons in the coldest regions we sell into.
