DCV versus DCDA versus RP
Counter confusion causes returns:
- DCV covers — standard double-check valves; no detector loop
- DCDA covers — detector assemblies; wider, often fire-service adjacent
- RP covers — reduced pressure zone; tallest profile with relief bonnet
Read the tag. "Double check" alone is not enough — confirm DCV versus DCDA before picking a SKU.

DCV assemblies get overlooked in stocking plans because RP and PVB shout louder. Then every double-check on a light commercial irrigation transition needs a cover Tuesday morning. Holding DCV patterns for your top two local brands prevents the emergency UPS charge that wipes margin on a single cover sale.
Light commercial crossover from irrigation
Many irrigation supply branches discover DCV demand when light commercial buildings transition off pure PVB specs. If your valve wall added DC bodies, add DCV covers in the same season — the customer calling for the valve will call for the cover.
Febco 850 and Watts DC equivalents
Your DCV basket should mirror DC valve movers — Febco 850, Wilkins 350/375, and Watts DC configs in the proportions your testers report, not equal case splits of unrelated sizes.
Double checks by name
Watts 007 and 774, Febco 850, Zurn 950XLT2 and 350, Ames LF2000B and 2000SS, Apollo DC4A, Deringer 20: each is in the cover finder with its spec-sheet envelope. Because a double check does not discharge, the cover closes fully to the pad, which is the one install where that is the right move.
